Every applicant for an appointment as a Notary Public should become familiar with The Notaries Public Act and Regulations. Duties of a Notary Public A Notary Public may use and exercise the power of drawing, passing, keeping and issuing all deeds and contracts, charter parties and other mercantile documents in Saskatchewan and also of attesting all commercial instruments that may be brought before him/her for public protestation. Expiry date of appointment Appointments are for 5-year terms. The expiry date of all appointments will be noted on the certificate of appointment. If you wish to continue your appointment, please reapply before the expiry date by filling out the application. Penalties
Evidence of Appointment Every Notary Public is issued a certificate as evidence of appointment. If you change your name, you must obtain a new certificate showing your changed name. For instructions on what is required to change your name on your certificate, please telephone Court Services Branch at (306) 787-4117. It is the responsibility of every Notary Public to obtain his or her own stamp or seal. These devices are not provided by Court Services Branch.
