Northern Policing

Community police boards have been established in communities throughout northern Saskatchewan under the 1999 Framework Agreement between the Saskatchewan Association of Northern Communities Inc., the RCMP and the Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing.

Community police boards provide input to the RCMP about local policing issues, help to orient new police officers to the community, educate communities about policing, and foster partnerships between the RCMP and community members. The Saskatchewan Association of Northern Communities Inc., the RCMP and Ministry of Justice and Attorney General co-operate in providing training to community police boards.
